With lifestyle diseases taking centre stage and alternative therapies becoming toast of the season, there is a major rush for learning the theories of alternative medicine. Although the Indian systems of medicine have existed for centuries, they are being globally accepted only now. Ayurveda, siddha and drugless therapies like yoga and naturopathy are some of the subsets.

The market for herbal remedies alone is pegged at US$5 Trillion with an annual growth of 11 percent.

$5 Trillion! Wow. I mean I guess that's probably in the entire global market though. And maybe that's just a much bigger scale than I can imagine. There's definitely something to be said about some alternative medicines. For instance, massages are certainly a healthful thing to do. But you have to be careful what you're willing to buy. Some of the more potion type remedies are often obviously not as effective as modern medicines.
