A new cigaratte study suggests that American cigarette manufacturers deliberately boosted nicotine levels to hook smokers.

New data supplied by tobacco companies strongly suggest that manufacturers in recent years deliberately boosted nicotine levels in cigarettes to more effectively hook smokers, Harvard researchers conducted in a study.

The companies increasingly used tobacco richer in nicotine, and also made design changes to give smokers more puffs per cigarette, according to the analysis from the Harvard school of public health.

That would be a bit risky of the tobacco companies. They know that there is already a lot of talk about just how addictive cigarettes are. To try to increase their addictiveness in this day and age without anyone noticing....well...they'd have to be crazy basically. Then again...sometimes those companies do some pretty crazy things.
