There is much evidence of the benefits of walking. Scientists at the university of Pittsburg recently revealed that overweight people who walked briskly for 30 to 60 minutes a day lost weight even if they didn?t change any other lifestyle habits.
Another American study found that people who walked for at least four hours a week gained less weight than couch potatoes as they go older.

Last year, researchers at the University of Colorado found that regular walking helped to prevent peripheral artery disease (which impairs blood flow in the legs and causes leg pain in one ? fifth of elderly people)

Walking can even prevent colds. Researcher?s at the University of Massachusetts medical school found that people who walked every day had 25 percent fever colds than who were sedentary.

Interesting that it helps to prevent colds. Brisk walks are great during the autumn. Work up a sweat then a brisk walk to cool off.

Yeah! Brisk walk helps in developing stamina. If I?m not in a mood to go gym or feel very tied I just go for a brisk walk. It helps me in relaxing and when I feel low I just go for brisk walk them come back and have a hot water bath.

Thanks for such a valuable information.
I have also heard that walking daily can cause pains in your joints. Is it so.?

anything CAN cause pain in your joints ... mostly, the people who do develop pain in their joints have been lacking exercise for some time ... i can't think of any specific sources that prove that walking causes pain in your joints, though, offhand ...

I do a 45 minute to an hour walk with my son every day pushing a buggy changing the direction everyday as it will get boring - good work out and has helped me lose my baby :)

I hope you had a nice walk and that you found the house of your dreams along the way :) I love house hunting but we haven't got the money to buy something else at the moment we rent somewhere but rent out our house - and it was too good of an opportunity to let go renting it out for a year :)

This is the form of exercise I love. It is the easiest exercise for me. You can burn calories without making too much effort. Good thing this can also help to prevent colds. This is one reason why I have a good metabolism.

Walking is very popular among seniors. When I go to the mall early in the morning there are a lot of seniors walking for excercise. I myself like to walk. I go to the mall at least 3 times a week to brisk walk.
