Some people said alcohol is good to the body for its effective health benefits. But I just can't seem to figure out what area does it deliver these benefits.

bodybuilders shouldn't drink booze, end of story. A couple drinks won't be a problem, unless it's a regular thing for you. Alcohol suppresses testosterone production if abused.

Alcohol destroys sleep quality if abused.

Alcohol's 'main ingredient', ethanol, is a caloric nutrient, packing 7 calories / gram. Carbs and proteins have 4 calories/gram, with fat having 9 calories/gram. Note that the body cannot store ethanol, so it must digest the ethanol calories as a priority.

Alcohol dehydrates, and without proper rehydration, your performance will be hampered.

Being hungover hurts quality of performance.

Drinking alcohol may disturb your sleep through it initially helps inducing slumber. Alcohol leads to poor quality sleep in the second half of the night and overall less deep sleep.

anthony, could you please provide more information? I'm not sure i understand your meaning behind 'the second half of the night', nor do i see how the halves of hte night matter based on how sleep cycles operate.

I'm also pretty sure that 1 drink will not affect sleep quality, so to say all alcohol use will cause this may be misleading. Abuse will absolutely hamper sleep quality (and testosterone production - remember 85% comes while you sleep! Hence mornign w- nevermind).

one benefit that i know has been noted is a reduction in the risk for coronary artery disease and heart disease ... but this is from drinking red wine ... approximately one glass a day ... generally, this is directed at older men age 60 or so, according to many of the studies (a quick internet search on "benefits of drinking alcohol") ... also, the risk of diabetes lowers ... raises levels of good cholesterol ... a reduced risk of demensia in the elderly ...

Alcohol is good for our body when it is drink moderately. A glass of wine everyday has antioxidant properties that give extension to human?s life. Too much intake of alcohol is bad for our health. It may damage our brain and destroy our body organ.
