I was thinking about siphoning gas not long ago, because a friend of mine was almost out of gas and I might of had to siphon some out of my car. Luckily I didn't, but I thought back to the time I saw someone try it and start coughing very badly, and give up on it.

Is breathing in gas fumes very dangerous? Is there an easier way to siphon gas?

yes, it is bad for you ... i've never mastered siphoning gas ... as bad as it is, i often have a 5 gallon jug of gas filled and with me, especially when i'm in my truck ... if it's not full, i at least have an empty one, so if need be, i could hitch a ride and grab some quick gas, but it's never, ever gotten to that point ...

I always carry a extra tank in my car for long journeys - esp in Greece as I wouldn't like to stop in the middle of no where and ask for help :)

I would be the same as well all them mountains and beach roads I wouldn't like to be out of fuel anywhere in Greece - but I wouldn't be brave enough to stop anywhere and hitch a lift to the next petrol station

You must live in a nice area :)

Haha, I haven't mastered it either. Mainly because I haven't tried too hard, for fear it is harmful to my health. I saw a guy on a survival show siphon gas and he was puking from it.

What kind of health side effects can you see from it? My friend said he got a natural high from it, and felt light headed

it's pretty much the equivalent of huffing paint or glue ... but worse for you ... not sure how, but that's what i've always been taught in health classes ...

we used to live outside a rural town of 200 ... i now live in a city of just under 60,000 that covers a spot of land about 10 miles by 16 miles of actual "city" land, but so many people live in more rural, sub-communities right outside the actual city limits ...

If your thinking of siphoning gas, go to the store and pay $5 for a device made to it. Gas fumes are bad for you, and the taste of it really sucks... Just spend a few bucks and it will save you a lot of trouble.
