I saw a news spot on TV that talked about the Wii lately. Apparently, some guy lost a lot of weight for playing 30 minutes a day. I tried the Wii at a friend's house, and it really does take a lot out of you. One boxing match and I was panting, and the next day my arm was numb.

Do you guys think the Wii will replace the gym for a lot of stay at home people? The news compared him to jared from subway, but this guy followed his same diet and exercise routine other than playing the Wii. Thoughts?

I don't think it'll replace the gym but it definitely helps you lose weight. It's an easy way to lose weight because you're doing something fun at the same time and you don't realize how exhausted you are causing you to lose more weight.
I wouldn't rely a 100% on the Wii for your weight loss though.

I remember seeing that same news clip. They said he lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks...which isn't all that significant sounding until you hear that means he lost 3 pant sizes (34 to a 31 I think). He was already a fairly skinny guy so 9 pounds may have been a lot.

I agree denny. I noticed he wasn't very large either, in fact quite normal. 9 Pounds for him must've been much more to a large person.

Raynette- good point, it is a LOT of fun to play the wii. Even if you are out of breath, you have a smile on your face while doing so. The wii is a very good product for the american culture right now :P

Haha, Dance Dance Revolution is old. I could imagine all the cool spin-offs the Wii could produce off DDR. A lot of people get into that game, and lose a lot of weight. There are many competitions if you are into it, and you could win a lot of money.

Go to youtube, and search for DDR. My favorite is the large man playing really good, and then exiting the stage at the end and tripping

Glad you liked it. I thought it was pretty funny too. At first, my jaw was dropped because he was actually very good at DDR, and given his size, he was absolutely amazing. Then, when he fell, Awe turned into severe laughter :)
