The research that has been done on this view point that ?women have higher pain threshold than man?, actually suggests the opposite that women feel hurt at a rather lower threshold than men. But the results are inconclusive. The myth is usually accompanied by the statement? because women have to give birth but of course no one knows how men would cope with this experience!

Would anyone like to share his/her view point on the above mentioned topic?

I think I have a higher threshold than a man - since my ankle I can handle it a lot better I think my boyfriend is a whimp when it comes to this kind of thing :)

I actually studied this in the college psychology course I am taking. It is because women have extra pain 'gates' that can close the receptors to pain out. Men do not have such gates. Why women have them, is a mystery. Most likely because the extra pain relief is needed during child birth, as you have guessed.

I broke my arm once, and I know what you are going through. The good news is, when you heal, you will have a stronger ankle :D . Mine stopped hurting after they gave me a cast to keep it safe. Before that, the pain was horrible.
