Often times I find myself not eating a health or great dinner, because I work late enough that when I get home, I want to go t o sleep. My question is, is this really unhealthy? I know breakfast is important, and the lack of food from supper makes me eat a bigger breakfast.

Thoughts?

i guess it depends on what kind of an eater you are ... if you focus more on the big meals like breakfast and lunch and alltogether skip food past lunch ... or if you're more of a grazer and eat small meals throughout the day ...

i'm going to suggest it's a poor decision to skip it in both instances, but even worse if you focus on big meals ... it might not always be the healthiest, but i keep a few frozen tv dinners around ... or even a bag of chicken nuggets ... maybe not the healthiest options, but better than not eating at all ...

another suggestion i'd have is to get a slow cooker or crock pot ... there are so many simple recipes that are nearly impossible to screw up ... throw the stuff together and it cooks all day while you're at work ...

I personally wouldn't miss dinner if you can help it - I would if I was you make sure you have something biggish at lunch time and then if you do have to work late then you can have a Sandwich or something light for your dinner.

I hate missing meals but since having the 2 little ones I don't usually get time to finish my dinner - so now I make sure I have something nice for lunch to fill me up and then dinner if I don't get to have dinner with my other half then I have sandwich or soup or salad something quick with him :)

Hope this helps

I don?t think Dinner is as important meal as breakfast or lunch. I usually have brown break with some vegetable stew or some thing lite for dinner. If I have to have my dinner after 9PM I usually be on soup or salads.

Hi friend i think taking three meals a day is very essential , its good you take breakfast daily, similarly dinner has its own importance, i have heard not taking dinner could cause ulcers in stomach as keepin stomach empty for more than 4 hours
could lead to stomach ulcers. So take out some time out of your busy schedule and take dinner..

Wow thanks for the information. I didn't know that skipping out on dinner can lead to serious health risks. I will start eating before I go to bed now.

I stocked up on some easy stuff that just requires me opening and eating, and then going to sleep :)

You should also leave enough time for your food to digest as you could be up half the night with problems.

If I can i always make sure I have had something at leaset 3 hours before I go to bed as a rule... to myself

I personally think that dinner is not an important meal unlike breakfast and lunch. Actually, if you're on a diet, it is best to skip dinner meals. So I don't think that skipping it will lead to serious illness.

i personally think that you're incredibly off ...

there ARE sources out there, but i do not have the time to find them, that suggest that keeping as level of blood sugars throughout the day are key to not only being healthy, but keeping at an even weight ... what happens when you starve yourself or skip meals is that your blood sugar gets too low and your body goes into what i call WAR mode ... any bit of food that comes its way, it'll do its hardest to store everything, thinking that it might be a LONG time before it gets a meal ... that's WHY you're supposed to eat breakfast ... not only does it start your day off right with proper nutrition, but it kicks your blood sugar back into a regular mode ... skipping dinner would cause the same effect, even if you do eat breakfast ... skipping ANY meal, i'd say is pretty darn detrimental ...

i never skip the dinner as this is very important for me - i usually work in the night, but sincerely i think that out of the three main meals,- lunch breakfast, and dinner - the dinner is the best to skip if you were to choose one.

where do you get this NO CARBS for dinner thing??? i've never heard of it in all my years of classes and research ... i was just wondering if you could point me in a direction of a study or some research ... i'm curious ... because there really is no logic as to why you would have to avoid carbs from dinner on into the evening ...

Some say consuming alot of carbs towards bed time could be a waste. It's recommended to keep the carb consumption to a minimum towards the evening.
