I heard it from my grand mom that certain food if consumed by pregnant women helps them in delivering fair babies? As Indians usually have fixation for fair skin children. Is this just a myth or does it have any scientific reason?

I would say it was complete myth - I wouldn't believe it :(

My sister in law lived on Chicken tikia and Ryan came out without a tint of red on him ;)

Aha aha that?s a good one ;)
Because my cousin is expecting and her mom is go on feeding her Saffron ( kumkum flower) with milk saying that she will give birth to a fair baby ( as cousin is dusky)
My cousin hates the smell of saffron, so I?m just browsing proofs so that we can show it to her mom.

Foods you eat when you're pregnant can somewhat affect the appearance of your baby. I used to drink a lot of pineapple juice when I was pregnant. Pineapple is good for the skin of the baby. When she came out, her skin is really beautiful, its color is white. I think pineapple has a lot to do with it.

I still say myth though - I think you can eat something and of course it is better for the baby - but I don't think something can effect the colour of a babies skin :(

you should be more concerned with eating of adequate nutrition during pregnancy than eating to produce a fair skinned baby ...

the coloring of a person is dependent on about 99% of their melanin or natural skin pigment ...

somebody mentioned how carrots affect one's coloring, but in all reality, you'd have to go through bundles and bundles of carrots a day for it to affect one's coloring ...

it is a myth , i guess; i know this might be quite obsessive for people of a certain race so to speak, but having your skin different colored it is something genetically not influenced by the food you eat.
Only the orange colored skin of those who eat carrots, lot of carrots.
