Many people tell me that milk is good for you, yet others say not to drink it because it is bad. It is served to kids in schools with lunches, so it is obviously needed for growth and development. Do you stop needing milk when you age?

I am a little confused as to why there is such a debate over milk. Some say it is too fatty and useless, others say it is vital to growth. Thoughts?

with age, the fat is not necessary for growth or development, but the calcium and vitamins in milk are pretty darn vital ... many argue you can get them in supplements, but most of us are together in believing that it's best to get the nutrition directly from the food itself ...

for those who drink many caffeinated beverages a day, milk is nearly necessary to not develop osteoporosis and other calcium-deficient diseases ... one cup of coffee takes away the equivalent calcium from one cup of milk ... so in order to get your three glasses of milk per day (or whatever other product with calcium you choose), you'd have to eat twice as much to get the equivalent to eating/drinking just one serving ... make any sense???

For me, milk is very nutritious. Babies who are not breastfeed by their moms rely on milk supplements. This is the only food for babies. So I think it is nutritious, because if its not, babies could have not survived.

I see. I will make an effort to start drinking milk more regularly, and I have already cut down on soda drinking. I have noticed my general health has improved already just from drinking lots of water at work instead of soda.

Although, the taste of water is too bland often and I revert to drinking soda again. A little lemon does the trick on occasion.

Yeah, there is alot of debate whether if cow's milk is really healthy for you or not. People say that dairy milk may contain bacteria and chemicals that can be of harm to your health. Myself, I'm more neutral on the subject. Milk has had a strong role in my diet since I was a kid. I'm a big fan of cereal, and I've tried other sources such as soy milk...But nothin beats of what I grew up with. ;)

Everyone, from growing cchildren to young mother and ageing parents some form of milk, and nothing beats ice cream.Ice cream is a great source of calcium.Apart from calcium ,milk proteins are rich sources of amino acids and it also reduces blood pressure and protects bone and growth of muscles. It also helps in fat loss and regulates blood glucose level.

I think milk tastes awful. I had it when I was a kid, but probably around high school age, I simply quit drinking. I now only have it in cereal.

well ya, true milk tastes awful. and for me i always have milk with drinking chocolate. but as far as nutrition is concerned nothing can beat the milk. it good for the bones as well as muscles plus some minerals and vitamins. good for eyes too. my mom says the direct milk from the cow is the purest and most nutritious form of milk unlike the processed one.
