I was reading in my psychology book and read that blood sugar helps the brain function, and in some cases, will make it perform better based on what your blood sugar level is at.

So, in theory, eating sugary foods before studying and test taking will aid you in learning, correct?

actually, no ... carbohydrates and starches bring your blood sugar up and they will stay high until the body breaks them down completely ... sugary foods come as simple sugars, put you on a sugar high, and you'll crash in under an hour ... most tests last LONGER than an hour ... in order to have the energy for a long test, or a long day of work, or a sporting event, eating pastas or starchy foods like baked potatoes are such are your best bet ... they will continually release energy as the sugars get broken down ...

i also knew something like this before that glucose or sugar , improves the brain activity. Therefore i use to eat a chocolate before every exam that i have; I don't know if this is going to help me much, but at least, i was much more confident at the exam.
As far as i know oxygen and glucose stimulates the brain activity.

Takin sugar directly makes no sense for body.It only makes more fat.As mentioned at Allie`s post taking sugar by indirect ways helps you feel good also helps reduce your body fat percentage.

taking sugar directly does NOT necessarily mean fat ... a lot of you all could benefit from researching what it takes for the body to gain fat cells ... if you exercise enough and burn the same number of calories you consume in a day, you will not gain any fat cells or weight ... you may, however, gain inches if you are not exercising, which is what i'm slightly suffering from right now ... but in my diet, i calculate that ... during the time when i find it hard to get to exercise as much as i like, i consume lesser calories than when i'm exercising 3 hours a day ... i had a soda every day last week because that's all i could get at work and i forgot to take water or a sports drink ... that's nearly pure sugar, yet i haven't gained a pound, nor will i, because i know how many calories i consume and how many i burn in a day ...

well thank you, but know i am nowhere near a pro ... i've studied, lived, researched and took classes on this stuff for years ... i've suffered through the same sorts of health issues and weight issues every single one of you has ... i've been there, and through experience, i try to provide insight, using my learned knowledge to back it up ...
