I was told by a few people throughout my life that trail mix is bad for you. However, it is good for trips through woods because you need the extra energy.

I just had a trail mix bar, and it was very nutritious, judging by the nutrition facts.

Was this a common myth?

it depends on the kind of trail mix ... if it's the kind with lots of candy pieces and sugary cereals, then yah, obviously it's bad for you ...

but if it's got your typical raisins and dried fruit and nuts and such, that's just fine ...

I think I would go for the raisin one - as that sounds lovely :)

We have loads of different bars over here but I am not sure if you lot have the same as us

But I have never heard of trail mix

Well, it is basically just things you might find 'on the trail'. There are berries, nuts, granola-type stuff, and some kind of grain as the base. They are quite good.

As for the content, I don't usually buy the ones with candy in them unless on occasion. This is just a regular trail mix bar :)

Not a problem. They are really good, but often expensive. Not to mention, that they can give you a bad case of restroom problems if you eat too much of it if you know what I mean.

Walmart has some amazing trail mixes, if you have a walmart near you. They are extremely expensive, but incredibly good :)

I am not very good at cooking as I haven't really been the one that is doing it - as I work funny hours so by the time I get home my boyfriend has made something for me :)

You?re so lucky to get such caring boy friend who cooks for you. Can anybody tell me how to make these bars at home?

i usually just throw it all together in a bag and go ...

you can use molasses or honey or peanut butter to hold it all together, i usually use lots of dried fruit and a few chocolate chips or maybe marshmallows, a good handful of nuts, and sometimes some toasted oats ... sunflower seeds are good options, too ...

It is really good to just buy the goods and make your own trail mix. Most pre-packaged trail mixes are loaded with sodium and hidden sugars. Not our own version of trail mix. Aside from its nutritious we can save a lot if we make our own. I love dried fruits for my trail mix.
