This has been a common of problem of parents, if their child does not want to eat. They could have a nutrition gap and this is not good. Normally, a child hates to eat foods that are rich in vitamins like vegetables and fruits. What should we do if this happens?

I have a problem with my 3 year old and eating - he will eat fruit well he will have a banana or an apple - but he will not eat veggies :( This drives me MAD ! He will eat mashed potato and I have started really mashing veggies in with it so I know he is at least getting something - it does my head in though ......

I have started making sure he has a glass of orange juice and a glass of milk during the day as well...

BUT ANY IDEAS would be great :)

my parents tied me to my highchair with baling twine until i finished my meals ... otherwise, i'd just slither out to go play with my toys, seeing as how i'd mastered unlatching my safety belt ... i can't recall ever being a nuisance and not wanting to eat, mainly because my parents encouraged me to TRY foods ... if i didn't like them, then i could have an alternative ... that was, until we'd tried everything and figured out what i did and didn't like ... we had a list on the refrigerator of the fruits and veggies i would eat, and i had to have 5 fruits i would eat, and 5 veggies i would eat ... as well as the meats and grains and such ... when my tastes changed, i updated that list ... but if i didn't try the foods, that's when i got punished ...

I don?t have kids but my brother?s kids stay with me. I make sure to add vegetables to what ever they eat. I mix stir-fried vegetables in omelet, to make it healthier and tastier. Give them fresh fruit milk shakes, or fruits added to custard and yogurt.

exactly, there's no harm in trying ... and constantly forcing them to try them again, as children's tastes in foods often changes ... i'm not saying every week, but once or twice a year ...

I let my kids join me in preparing their meals. They enjoy to prepare ingredients for the food I cook fro them. Try to do this at home. You will find your kids excited to eat what they have prepared.

Well done that is a break through - did he like it ? or did he spit it out ??

I used to spit stuff out all the time - or put it in that tissue :) and then bin it later :)
