Bananas contain potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure. Do you have anything to add to the above mentioned statement?

Bananas are a great way to fuel your body before or after a workout. They contain natural sugars for sustained energy, plus a satisfying amount of fibre. They are rich in vitamin B6, which regulates blood glucose levels and keeps your moods good. They are also a good source of potassium, which helps to enhance alertness, prevent muscle fatigue and control high blood pressure, This tasty tropical fruit has other benefits, too.

Bananas are rich in tryptophan, the amino acid that helps your body make serotonium, the neurotransmitter associated with relief from depression, anxiety and sleep disorders. Many pregnant women find that snacking on bananas can relieve morning sickness. Bananas can also soothe heart burn, and they taste a lot better than most antacids.

I used to be under weight 3 years ago so my gym instructor told me to eat bananas every day. So I used to make a smoothie out of two bananas and drink along with my break fast. It really helped me a lot. Now I just eat 1 banana in the morning.

I always have a banana as part of breakfast, as has already been mentioned it is a great food for providing a slow energy release and also it is counted as 1 portion of your daily 5 fruit and veg.

I eat a lot of bananas, especially that un-ripe green ones. (They taste the best, I feel) I have heard that bananas also help in preventing muscle spasms, and help asthma victims recover from a deficiency in potassium.

It is a very health fruit to say the least :)

The problem is that the banana we eat is a seedless, sterile article which could slip the way of its predecessor which was wiped out by blight half a century ago.

But Dr Emile Frison, who heads the French-based International Network for the Improvement of Banana and Plantain (INIBAP), says the biotechnology and genetic manipulation it might take to save the fruit could put off consumers with GM concerns.

I am surprised that banana can help on gaining weight. My weight has been my problem for a long time. I eat a lot but still I am skinny. I will definitely try this. I hope it would work for me too.

I find that I have a problem with Bananas. I love them - and if I eat them I feel ok having one a day - but I found out that I didn't lose any weight when I ate one - but then I stopped - and I lost the weight and I find they gave me really bad tummy ache as well :(

i, too, find that on occasion i have troubles consuming bananas ... the only times i've been ok with them is when they're eaten in conjunction with other foods and not on an empty stomach ...

i do not think that is scientifically proved but i find it as a very useful way to regenerate your organism after a long effort; I eat a banana after each of my training, usually on the empty stomach and have never had problems with them.
Great source of energy and of potassium as you said.

i can't imagine how your logic is true ... you need energy to be able to last the day through, if all you're eating is breakfast, one meal a day, then that is the reason why your body converts any food intake into fat storage ... when you don't eat often enough, your body gets confused, not knowing when you're going to feed it next, so it converts more than it needs to to fat, so it has an energy supply ... i would venture to guess that if you even started eating three meals a day, you would at least stop gaining weight, if not losing it, just as it is ...
