Often, my benchpressing is hindered becaused of lifting pains I have. Not always, but often my elbow will start hurting and makes me uncomfortable, and makes me stop early despite more lifting to be done.

I don't think it's serious, more chronic-type problem than a break or injury. Thoughts?

How often do you lift? This can be because your body hasn't gotten used to it yet. If you do it chronically for a while, maybe a week or two, your body should get used to it and the pain should go away.

but if it's in a joint, it'd be my suspicion that it's more than over-fatigued muscles ...

It's a muscular imbalance. Rest, ice the sore area and use anti-inflammatories. Also, alter your workout so it doesn't keep coming back.
If you're still getting pains after a week then go see a doctor.

i'd be careful jumping into diagnosing problems ... i've rarely seen muscular imbalances ... but i've seen a lot more problems with things in the joint area ... mild forms of tendinitus ... odd growths on the fibrous tissues near the joints ... and in even more serious cases, bruised bones ... it could be any number of things ...

I know that it could be a range of things but inflammation is one of the most common things and if he's new to working out on a regular basis then chances are it's his problem.

I'm not saying this is your exact problem but resting and icing the sore area isn't a bad idea and it will provide you the temporary relief you need.

Yea, it could be anything....Just to be on the safe side, maybe get checked out by a doc? For now, I recommend you spend a little bit more time stretching before a workout and also lighten the load on bench. And like Raynette mentioned, rest and iced it up some whenever you have the chance. It still wouldn't hurt to see a doc.

I took a long break from benchpressing, and went back to it. I didn't encounter the pains. I did about the same weight lifting and reps as I would normally do. I guess it was something I had to grow accustomed to chronically perhaps.

Anyhow, it feels a lot better benchpressing without having your elbow hurting with each rep :)

even i feel hard time when i do bench press, once i was so in problem with this one. but almost after 5-6 days, i got rid of this problem. now its no problem for me with bP..!!

When you feel your elbow start hurting go get some equipment to protect it.I`ve the same problem here.When i lift 100-110kg i almost feel something is going to be broken inside my elbow.Now i`m trying to make it stronger.

You mean like a brace type thing? Also, if the pain is too much to withstand...Reduce the weight your lifting.

yes i do agree this. if you feel pain on any part, its good to reduce the weight, because if you will ot reduce weight then it will affect you for the whole age of yours.

Yeah exactly same thing but i use it with a glow.When i lift high amount of weight an imbalance occurs so that makes lots of pressure at my elbows so i use glows to handle the bar firmly.
