Could you have a successful workout from just merely flexing your muscles? I have seen machines that shock users of it, to contract the muscles and expand them. This builds muscle.

So, wouldn't flexing do the same only cheaper? Does this method, or the shocking method, even work?

I have experimented with it once, after going to a friends house and seeing it. If you set it up to high, you can hurt yourself without meaning to. It makes you move in ways you don't mean to. You could literally set it to high and punch yourself in the face on accident :D

It's unlikely though.

obviously, flexing your muscles expends energy, but it does little to create the muscle, which will inevitably burn more calories per day just by having more muscle mass ...

I've read a few articles about what your talking about....And I forget what the correct technical term its called, it can be effective. But also dangerous at the same time for some reason. In my opinion, I dont think flexing and working out without weights would be as effective as working WITH weights. Tongue twister there.

I believe it does get you some kind of workout...Because I mean, professional bodybuilders are known to practice their flexing poses for hours at a time. Just imagine flexing doing several different poses for an hour straight...It would be a full body workout itself. lol
