Preparation is the key to planning your meals for planning your meals for weight loss and if you know what to take with you when you walk out the door every day, you are much more likely to stick to your weight loss plan.

You must drink water in order to hydrate yourself each day and increasing water consumption will help you reach your weight loss goals. Aim for a minimum of 2 liters of water each day. This does not include coffee, tea, or any other type of drink.

For what reason can no drinks count towards total water intake?

2 liters? you mean the pure water. it seems unreasonable, if i drink cola or other type of drink, why it cannot be included,

rob, there is a button in the window of a previous person's post for you to 'quote' them, if you click that it will bring you to a response window, only the person's text will be quoted there, so you won't have to re-write it.

Other sources of liquid, such as fruit juice can act as a source of fluid but other types of drinks such as tea and coffee cannot be counted as liquid intake since they inhibits the body?s absorption of minerals and vitamins. Also drinks like alcohol should be avoided as a source of fluid as it does cause dehydration.

Just so everyone is clear, however, juice DOES count towards your fluid totals. Any drink that specifically hurts hydration (read: those with caffeine or ethanol/alcohol) shouldn't count (and actually adds to your needs), but juice counts just as much as water.

Why doesn't it count? Sodas, etc. aren't good for you. All the other ingredients in those drinks dilute the water. That's why it won't count.
Two liters is about eight glasses so that's about right. I don't drink nearly enough though.
